DEAR GUESTS AND FRIENDS FROM NEAR AND FAR

We are glad to welcome you at our restaurant.

Restaurant Nostitz was originally a summer palace constructed by the Jesuits before 1685, in what is believed to be Early Baroque style. However, its contemporary appearance embodies Late Baroque, Classicism and New Era elements.
The building is situated on the grounds of the former Lazarov Gardens, which the municipal government bought in 1600 and divided into four parcels of land. THE COURT PAINTER, BARTHOLOMEUS SPRANGER, ACQUIRED ONE OF THESE PARCELS. In 1637, this land was incorporated into Jesuits‘ estate.
After dissolution of the order in 1776, the garden parcel fell into private hands for the first time – Jan Adam Graf purchased the land for an insignificant sum of money. Presumably during this time, the summer palace was reconstructed, and the arcades were walled in. handicapped friedly
Allegedly celebrated balls took place here. A wine cellar was also situated in the building. In 1781, the Graf founded a bath near Certovka.

The summer palace was renovated in 1956.
It was once again sensitively reconstructed in 1974 for the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports
at Charles Universtity.
